Spring Has Sprung!
It was a great turn out for the Eynsford Gardeners Club Spring Show on Friday 26 March. The hall had been filled with Spring flowers such as daffodils and narcissus with the wonderful scent of hyacinths greeting everybody at the door. Ginger cakes and biscuits together with mushroom pies and pates sat next to some amazing pictures of Eynsford in the snow. Extra chairs had to be put out, which is a good sign, and people of all ages enjoyed an interesting and at time extremely funny talk on ‘The History of Pub Signs’. Who would have know there was a pub called the Duke, with Duke Ellington on one side of the sign and John Wayne on the other ?!
Many people went away with 1st 2nd or 3rd places, sadly the writer of this was not one of them and some had success in more that one category but John Bulford stood out from the crowd winning more than anybody else and so rightly being named the overall winner for the event. The evening was finished off with food and wine which went down very well! All in all it would appear that Spring has arrived with a bang and with a potato in one hand and a packet of sunflower seeds in the other, a large amount of happy people left the hall no doubt with thoughts of the Summer ahead.
