Draughts or Checkers is generally acknowledged as the grandfather of all board games. The earliest version on record is "El-Quirkat", played as long ago as 6,000 BC in Egypt. Introduced into Europe through the Moorish invasion of Spain and France in the 8th Century AD, the game went through several transitions until it's modern English form was adopted in the 1500s. Almost every country has it's own interpretation of the game, although "Polish Draughts", the most complex internationally recognised variation, has nothing to do with Poland!
